Ellis Island closed its doors as an immigration station in 1954. It was used for as a holding station during WWII. It is now restored and open to the public as a museum to remember the history of immigration and it's significance to our country. If you ever get the chance, go visit it!

Hurricane Sandy
The catastrophe of Hurricane Sandy that hit the east coast in 2012 caused destruction to the Ellis Island museum. Currently, measures are being taken to restore the museum and the artifacts within it.
